NO KINGS – UNLESS THEY’RE YOURS

The No Kings Hypocrisy

“I am president, I am not king.”

That’s not a No Kings sign.  That is Barack Obama, October 25, 2010, explaining why he couldn’t change immigration law on his own.   He said it again on January 30, 2013: “I’m not a king.” Two weeks later: “I’m not the emperor of the United States.”

Then, in January 2014, before a Cabinet meeting: “I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone.”

Funny how fast the crown fits when it’s your own head.

That is the No Kings movement in a nutshell.  The left wing radical liberals running it are not against kings. They are against THIS king.  When their side holds the scepter, the protest signs stay in the garage.

Let me walk through it.

Example Number 1. “Not Likely to Pass Constitutional Muster.”

August 2021.  The Supreme Court had already warned the CDC’s eviction moratorium couldn’t be extended without Congress.   On August 2, Jen Psaki put out a statement saying the CDC had been “unable to find legal authority for a new, targeted eviction moratorium.”

The next day, the CDC issued one anyway.

And President Biden told reporters, out loud: “The bulk of the constitutional scholarship says that it’s not likely to pass constitutional muster.” But “it’s worth the effort.”

Read that again.  The President admitted the experts thought it probably wasn’t constitutional, and did it anyway.

The Supreme Court struck it down on August 26, 2021.  And Jen Psaki, who announced the CDC couldn’t find the authority?  She now hosts a prime-time show on MS NOW.

Example Number 2. “That Didn’t Stop Me.”

July 28, 2021. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, on student loan forgiveness: “People think that the President of the United States has the power for debt forgiveness.  He does not.”  And: “The president can’t do it.  So that’s not even a discussion.”

Back in February 2021, Chuck Schumer had sponsored a Senate resolution, cosponsored by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, calling on Biden to “take executive action to broadly cancel” up to $50,000 per borrower.

Biden went for roughly $430 billion.  The Supreme Court struck it down in Biden v. Nebraska in June 2023.

His response, in February 2024: “The Supreme Court blocked it. But that didn’t stop me.”

Picture Donald Trump saying that EXACT sentence.

Fast forward to October 2025.  Chuck Schumer marched with the No Kings protest in New York City.  Bernie Sanders spoke at the No Kings rally in Washington, D.C.

Same executive power.  Different president.

Example Number 3. Ignore the Judge.

April 9, 2023.  A federal judge in Texas had suspended the FDA’s approval of the abortion pill mifepristone.  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went on CNN and said the Biden administration should ignore the ruling.

IGNORE a federal court.

That is exactly what the No Kings crowd warns Trump will do.

Example Number 4. Rules for Thee.

A king makes the rules and doesn’t live by them.   The COVID years handed us a whole royal court.

April 2020: Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot told residents that getting your hair done was “not essential,” then got a haircut while salons were closed.  Her defense: “I’m the public face of this city.”

August 2020: Nancy Pelosi got her hair done inside a San Francisco salon when the city wasn’t allowing salons to serve customers indoors.  When the video came out, she called it “clearly a setup” and said the salon owed HER an apology.

November 2020: Gavin Newsom, whose administration was telling Californians to limit gatherings to three households, sat down at the French Laundry in Napa with a table of 12 people from six households.  Afterward he admitted: “I made a bad mistake.”

The same Gavin Newsom who told everyone to join the No Kings marches in October 2025, because “THERE ARE NO KINGS IN THE UNITED STATES.”

Example Number 5. Say What We Tell You.

The No Kings crowd says nobody gets to dictate to anybody.  Then they hand you a list of words you are REQUIRED to say.

Where I stand: Pronouns follow biological sex.  And forcing a man to say something he believes is false isn’t tolerance.  It is compelled speech.

This isn’t hypothetical.  In 2018, Shawnee State University in Ohio put a written warning in philosophy professor Nicholas Meriwether’s file because he would not use female pronouns for a transgender student.  In March 2021, the Sixth Circuit ruled for him: “Shawnee State chose a different route: It punished a professor for his speech on a hotly contested issue.”  In 2022 the university settled.  It paid $400,000 and agreed he would never be required to use pronouns that conflict with a person’s biological sex, while still denying it did anything wrong.

New York City went further.  Its Human Rights Commission says employers, landlords and businesses must use the name and pronouns a person identifies with, including “ze/hir.”  Intentional or repeated refusal can count as harassment, and the city can impose civil penalties of up to $250,000 for willful violations.

Up to $250,000.  Over words.  So much for the Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression the left wing radicals scream about as the oppress anyone with whom they disagree with.

That’s not “no kings.”  That’s a king with a style guide.

Example Number 6. Change the Name. Or Else.

July 2, 2020.  Eighty-seven investment firms and shareholders sent letters pressing Nike, FedEx and PepsiCo to cut ties with Washington’s NFL team unless it dropped the Redskins name.  That same day FedEx, which held the stadium naming rights, asked the team to change it, and privately warned its signage would come down if the name stayed.

The team announced a review the next day.  On July 13, 2020, the Redskins name was retired.  In February 2022 it became the Commanders.

Here’s the part that got lost.  In 2016, a Washington Post poll of 504 Native American adults found 9 in 10 said the name did NOT offend them.

Cleveland followed.  MLB’s commissioner had already declared the Chief Wahoo logo “no longer appropriate” in 2018.  On July 23, 2021, the team announced the Indians, a name used since 1915, would become the Guardians.  A name meant to honor not one, not two, but the three first native Americans to play in major league baseball.  History erased by the liberals.

Over a hundred years of history, gone because the people with the money and the microphones decided for everyone else.

Example Number 7. The Camera Problem.

This August, Newsom signed AB 2624.  It shields immigrant-service workers’ addresses and restricts posting their personal information or images, including photos and video, with intent to incite violence or threats.  His side says it’s about doxxing.  Yet he has no problem demanding law enforcement show their full faces during immigration enforcement and responding to riots so he can have them doxxed.  Republican Assemblyman Carl DeMaio calls it the “Stop Nick Shirley Act,” after the independent journalist whose videos alleged fraud at taxpayer-funded programs. Shirley is challenging it in federal court.

When citizen journalists point cameras at taxpayer-funded programs and the answer is a new law about who can be filmed, I notice.  Not to mention, when you are in public, you have ZERO privacy.

That is not principle.  It is a one-way rule and it is illegal.  It is a direct violation of the Freedom of the Press.  A right specifically created for EXACTLY this type of situation.

The Bottom Line.

Here’s my test for the left wing radical liberals carrying the signs.  Name ONE time you objected when your own side was giving the orders.

Pen and phone?  Fine.  An eviction ban the President himself doubted was constitutional?  Fine.  Debt cancellation the Supreme Court said he couldn’t do?  Fine.   Ignoring a federal judge? Fine.  Telling you which pronouns to say and what your team gets to be called?  FINE.

Their defenders will say Trump is different.  Then be honest about it.  Your problem isn’t with kings.  Your problem is with who is sitting on the throne.

If you only hate kings when the other team wears the crown, you don’t hate kings.

You just want your own.
